Project Overview

About the Southgate Project

MVP Southgate is a proposed extension of the Mountain Valley Pipeline system that would receive gas near Chatham, VA (Pittsylvania County) and deliver to new interconnections in Rockingham County, NC. As an interstate project, it is regulated by the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC).

What’s being proposed now (amended design):

  • ~31 miles of 30-inch diameter pipeline from the MVP mainline in Pittsylvania County, VA to delivery points in Rockingham County, NC.
  • Approx. 550,000 Dth/day of incremental firm capacity.
  • No compressor station as part of the amended project.

  • Provide lower-carbon fuel that can backstop renewables and generate reliable electricity.
